What is a cookie and what are they used for?

A cookie is a small text file saved on your computer or similar device such as a tablet or smart phone.

Two types of cookies are used on PostNord’s website: persistent cookies and session cookies. Persistent cookies are stored as a file on your computer for a certain period of time until the website visitor, or the server that sent the cookies, erases them. Session cookies are only stored temporarily while the visitor browses a website and are erased when the browser is closed.

Cookies can either be first-party cookies or third-party cookies. First-party cookies are placed by the website you are visiting while third-party cookies are placed by another party/website than the one you are visiting. For example, third-party cookies are often used by advertising networks to identify a particular user and use information about how the user consumes content on the various websites or apps, as well as to display (customised) advertising on the network’s websites.

Pixel tags, web storage, mobile identifiers and other similar technologies can also have the same or similar functions as cookies. In this cookie policy, the term “cookie” refers to all cookies, mobile identifiers and similar technologies.

Cookies on PostNord's websites and apps

The following table lists the types of cookies used on https://www.postnord.fi and in PostNord’s apps, their functions, the purpose of collecting the data and how long collected data are kept for

1. Marketing and advertising cookies

1.1. Purpose and data collected

Marketing and advertising cookies help us analyse and track visitor behaviour so that we can deliver customised content and functions based on user choices and previous visits to the website.

Such cookies are also used for so-called re-targeting. This means that we identify you on our website via the cookie and, when you are on another website, are then able to show you marketing from us. For example, we can use Facebook Pixel to show you marketing on Facebook in this way. We can also choose not to show you any marketing and instead direct our marketing towards those who have not yet visited our website. These cookies can also help with customised marketing; e.g. by marketing products/services/functions you have shown an interest in on our website by clicking on information about these products etc.

The data collected are your IP address, i.e. a unique ID (combination of numbers and digits) that identifies you when browsing on other websites; this ID is used for the re-targeting explained above

1.2. Cookies

Google Ads, Floodlight (third-party cookie) and DV360 (third-party cookie) are used for targeted ads that are relevant for the visitor across the web. Read moreabout advertising via Google and how you can change your advertising settings to turn off customised marketing.

Facebook Pixel (third-party cookie) is used to analyse the effectiveness of advertising, to create customised audiences and to optimise advertising. Read more about advertising via Facebook. You can choose not to receive customised marketing by changing your advertising settings when signed in to your Facebook account.

Adform (first-party cookie) is used to measure the effects of the advertising and to identify visitors’ interest in products in order to display more relevant advertising for specific audiences. You can choose to opt-out from using Adform’s cookies.

Humany (first-party cookie) is used to analyse visitor behaviour in order to provide the visitor with relevant content on the web.

Read more about Marketo's functions and how you can choose to opt-out from the use of such cookies.

We use Leadoo’s tracking service to follow what users are doing on the site and combine this behavioral data with other data we can gather
from e.g. chat interactions. Leadoo uses etag tracking in order to hook together the same users behavior over several sessions – in practice
this works similarly to cookie based tracking. Please check out Leadoo Marketing Technologies Ltd’s Privacy Policy
(https://leadoo.com/privacy-policy/) for more information on what is tracked and what your rights are. Leadoo works as the Processor and we
work as the Controller for the data in terms of GDPR. You can stop the tracking by emptying your browser’s cache after the visit. For more on
how Leadoo works as a GDPR compliant processor, see https://leadoo.com/privacy-policy-processor/

3. Cookies in PostNord's Apps

3.1. Purpose and data collected

These cookies help us analyse and track visitor behaviour in order for us to be able to deliver customised content and functions in our apps based on user choices and previous visits to the app. Information from the app can also be used to create targeted advertising for you outside the app, for example on websites and social media.

These cookies are also used to provide functions in PostNord’s apps and are necessary to ensure the app’s functionality and to compile bug reports.

3.2. Cookies

Google Firebase (Analytics), (Crashlytics) and (Dynamic links) are used to collect and analyse information about how the app is used in order to be able to adapt it according to the user’s needs as well as to see what technical errors the app contains and compile bug reports. Read more about Google’s technologies for apps and mobile device identifiers.

Facebook (app links) is used to track user installations of the app and collect information about your use of the app. Information is transferred to Facebook where user data is used to create customised advertising for you. Read more about advertising via Facebook. You can choose not to receive customised marketing by changing your advertising settings when signed in to your Facebook account.

Microsoft Azure (HockeyApp Crash Analytics) is used to create debugging symbols and group crashes in the app. Read more about these functionalities.

Consent to using cookies

All visitors to a website/app using cookies must be provided information stating that the website/app uses cookies and be informed about how they are used. Visitors must also consent to the cookies being used. You consent to PostNord’s use of cookies in the banner displayed the first time you visit our website or by accepting the use of cookies in the apph to avoid or remove cookies

You can choose to block cookies via the settings in your web browser, so that it automatically rejects storing of cookies or informs you each time a website requests to store a cookie. You can also delete already stored cookies in your browser. Exactly how this is done differs between different web browsers and you can read more about this in the instructions for your web browser or in the help function available in most web browsers. Some service providers, e.g. Google, also provide their own opt-out tools that you can read more about on their websites (see the links in the table above).

If you are using a mobile device, you can opt-out of using mobile identifiers for certain types of interest-based advertising, including those performed by us, by opening the settings on your Apple or Android device and following the most recently published instructions. If you choose to opt-out, no further data collection or tracking will take place. This means that if at a later stage you decide to reactivate them, we will not be able to continue tracking you using your original ID and for all practical purposes you will be a new user in our system.

Further information about how to manage and erase cookies can also be found on the following websites: www.aboutcookies.org and www.youronlinechoices.com.

Please note that if you block cookies you might not be able to access all pages and functions on our website or in our apps. It may also affect your user experience.

You can change your PostNord cookie settings at any time.
